Congratulations to Travis, who received a High Honors Award at the Celebrating Undergraduate Research and Creativity Symposium. His poster showcased his work on a high resolution fluorescence microscope built from LEGO!
This week Justin and Allan attended the Materials Research Society Spring meeting in Phoenix. Here’s Allan presenting his poster on Single Nanosheet Photoelectrochemistry!
The group participated in an outreach activity with students from the AVID program at Greeley West High School. The kids enjoyed seeing some of the things we do in the group and learning more about what Grad School is like! Thanks to Zach, Lacey, Travis, Colby, and Christy.
Congrats to high school student Max Warnock for earning 1st prize in the Chemistry category at the Longs Peak Science and Engineering Fair and 4th place overall! He will compete in the CO state science fair at CSU in April 2018. Thanks to Lacey for assisting Max with Ag nanoparticle syntheses.
Justin presents Allan and Michael’s single nanoflake photoelectrochemistry work at the Electrochemistry Gordon Conference in Ventura, CA and at the 2018 SWAP meeting in Seattle, WA.
Justin receives the 2017 Norman Edmund Inspiration Award. The Norman Edmund Inspiration Award honors the contributions made by Norman Edmund to advance the science of optics. The recipient of the award is chosen from among the 30 global finalists of the 2017 Educational Award in the Americas and Europe, who best represent the legacy of Mr. Edmund, who is credited with inspiring many generations of young talent to become interested in science and engineering through his thought-provoking catalog of optics, science experiments, and learning tools. The lab receives $5,000 to spend on optical components!
Congrats to Allan for being recognized with a Top Ten Chemistry Poster award at the 2017 ACS Rocky Mountain Regional Meeting.
Allan, Colby, and Justin present at the 2017 ACS Rocky Mountain Regional Meeting.
Congrats to Colby for winning an ACS Student Travel Award!
The Collegian features Amy and Travis’ research project on developing a LEGO microscope for single-particle fluorescence microscopy. Find the article here!
Justin presents Allan and Michael’s work on 2D photoelectrochemistry at the University of New Hampshire. Thanks to Prof. Erik Berda for the invitation!
