We had a great time celebrating Rafael at Bawarchi and wishing him good luck on his next adventure at Wolfspeed. We will miss you Rafa and cannot wait to see what the future has in store for you. Congrats on all your accomplishments during your time at Colorado State University!
Congratulations to Ava Chard for being accepted into the Ram Research Fellow program, which is sponsored by the Colorado State University Libraries. This program enables graduate students to learn more about research data management and open science in a collaborative environment. Learn more about the program here!
Congrats to Justin for a successful talk with Shane Ardo titled “Advanced Correlative Microscopy Reveals Links Between Nanoreactor Photosynthetic Properties and their Yields for Electronic Charge Separation”.

On Monday August 18 and Tuesday August 19, Alison, Avishek, and Ava attended the Front Range Electrochemistry Workshop at the University of Colorado-Boulder. They learned a lot about the electrochemistry of solid state materials, batteries, and machine learning techniques and made many connections with other electrochemists from the front range.

Beilynn Geiss, our summer REU student, had a successful summer. We are so proud of her accomplishments and will miss her!

Jacob Steeley recently attended the Summer School for Integrated Computational Materials Education at the University of Michigan. He learned about current computational methods used in materials research. During this time, he learned from some of the leading experts in the field of computational materials research including Dr. Wenhao Sun, Dr. Katsuyo Thornton, and Dr. Liang Qi from the University of Michigan and many others. Jacob will be happy to apply what he learned for the benefit of his research and the group!
Congratulations to Rafael Almaraz, Dani Lustig, and Alexis Allamprese on your graduation! All three participated in commencement ceremonies on May 16, 2025.
